Hawthorn is an important early flower for insects. It is characteristically pink and white, filling hedgerows with bloom.
If allowed, Hawthorn can reach around 45 feet (13 metres) in height, with the potential to live up to 400 years! Leaves are around 5-6cm in length and are a shape that you could mistake for a small Oak leaf.
Fruit is deep red berries, known as Haws, held on the shrub into Autumn and favoured by the birds!
